Dear Members , Partners and Friends of Conservation ,
The past few months have once again highlighted the diversity of our actions carried out by the member organizations of the Alliance GSAC across the different intervention territories within the Congo Basin.
Be it from Great Apes monitoring through research, habitat protection, environmental education, the sustainable use of forest resources, community development and the development of digital tools: the initiatives featured in this newsletter reflect a shared commitment to developing solutions that are adapted to local realities and community needs.
This diversity is one of the strengths of our network. The experiences of our members demonstrate that conservation relies on an intersection of scientific knowledge, a strong field presence, community engagement, and the pursuit of solutions that reconcile biodiversity protection with local development.
The quarter was also marked by the participation of the Alliance GSAC and members in the 4th Congress of the African Primatological Society in Yaoundé that held from the 8-11 of September this year . This event provided an opportunity to showcase the works and experiences of our member organizations and to collectively amplify the voice of community-led conservation. Several members presented their work, while the Alliance hosted a roundtable discussion on lessons learned from 10 years of community-led conservation in Central Africa.
This participation highlights the importance of documenting our experiences, sharing knowledge gained from the field, and strengthening dialogue between science, conservation, and communities.
I would like to commend the daily commitment of our member organisations and their teams, and the communities with which they work. I would also like to acknowledge the support provided by our technical and financial partners.
I hope you enjoy reading this.
With my best regards,
Denis NYUGHA
Secretary General – Alliance GSAC
